So, you've come this far.  Let's get into the details of our program!

Theory (Online)

CDL Class A ELDT theory classes at this time are available in an online format.  Classroom time is generally around 20 hours spent in the online classroom, plus study time on your own.  Everyone learns at different paces and through different styles.  Our online education system allows students to test their knowledge in multiple formats and finally take a mock exam modeled after the state or federal driver's test. 

CDL/ELDT Bridge Training (Online)

CDL Made Simple understands there is a gap between Entry Level Driver Training and the theory information that is presented.  We've developed in-house training that helps students bridge the gap between ELDT and CDL licensure.  This online class helps students understand and put to use the CDL manual issued by their state of licensure.  This class can take from 4 - 10 hours depending on the student's level of engagement.     

Behind the Wheel Range & Road

CDL Class A ELDT behind-the-wheel time is spent in a real working class A truck.  Our staff works with you to ensure a smooth pre-trip inspection, mock driving scenarios, driving maneuvers, and response to safety situations to make sure you are comfortable in the driver's seat. Students have the opportunity to provide their own truck that passes a DOT certification as well as a pre-trip inspection, is licensed in its respective state, and has insurance on the vehicle.  

Behind the Wheel is up to 20 hours of time spent one-on-one with a training instructor.  Our instructors provide real-time feedback about your driving skills, offering solutions, ideas, and areas to study and practice on.  Our Range Driving allows students to learn to use a vehicle in a safe, secure, and private driving area that does not have traffic or pedestrians to worry about.  We believe students learn better when they have the chance to "try it out" themselves!

DMV / DVS Fees & Assistance

Our staff has experience navigating the challenging environment of the Department of Motor Vehicles and the proper documentation to submit.  As part of our all-inclusive program, we have a dedicated staff member that will meet you at the local DMV / DVS office to facilitate getting your Commercial Learners Permit.  We will then work with their staff to secure a Road Exam date and time and then will be there to help complete all the paperwork that is needed to get your CDL.  We cover the cost of all the initial fees as part of our program.  

Road Test / Road Exam

We make available on your scheduled DMV road test day the use of a TDT vehicle for the duration of the exam.  We deliver the truck to the exam station and assist as we are allowed.  We can make arrangements to meet or pick you up so you can practice on the way to the DMV!

DOT Physical / Health Certificate

We have arrangements with several clinics in the Mankato area that provide DOT Physicals at no additional cost to students.  This includes all necessary blood or urine work that the exam provider feels is necessary.  If you pass the exam, you are then issued a Health Certificate that may be good for up to 2 years.  

DOT Drug & Alcohol Test / Clearinghouse Assistance

We have arrangements with dozens of labs across the United States that provide DOT drug and alcohol testing which is a requirement of the FMCSA for all new student drivers since they are operating the CMV.  We also query the FMCSA drug and alcohol clearinghouse (which starts a process for you to create your own clearinghouse account) for previous CDL drug and alcohol violations.  

Background Checks

We do a deep dive into all student's backgrounds to help them understand what future employers might find or challenges they might face.  Generally, we do not turn down students unless they've had significant driving violations or can't meet Commercial Driving licensing requirements.  

Training Guide & CDL Manual

We provide a training manual digitally and in print (if requested) as well as a CDL manual at no additional cost to the student.  This allows a single place for students to store their information as well as a place that can be referenced if there is a question about commercial vehicle operation.
